TransLink implementing Major Cuts
I found this article on globe and mail about TransLink. As
many of us rely on TransLink to get to the various different places we go, I thought
it was an extremely important article to post.
Recently, TransLink has found themselves in a financial
crisis as their costs are now so high, that the costs are now higher than the revenues.
TransLink had been told by the premier and the transportation commission to
stop asking for money, therefore resulting in TransLink having to find their
own way to come up with 15 – 28 million dollars a year.
Some suggestions that have been recommended to TransLink
from the transportation commissioner are to lower maintenance and
administration cost, make a cut in services for disabled and community
shuttles. TransLink cannot increase wages more than the set 2 percent each
year, according to the transporation commission.
I’m not sure what everybody else thinks but I don’t think TransLink
will be able to make 28 million annually, without getting a rise of negativity
from their customers. TransLink will have to cut from areas that will greatly
affect a lot of their customers, which is turn will also cost loss in revenue.
For everybody who relies on TransLink or anyone who has
friends or family that on TransLink, be aware there may be some major changes
being made, a lot of which you may not favor.
