Grammar not being enforced nor taught in High Schools

This article was posted by a Grade 12 English teacher from Surrey and it speaks to the issues high school students are facing in terms of their grammar skills.

The scope of the article is illustrating that fact that there is little to no grammar teaching being done in our high school's anymore. The high school teacher goes on to explain that even in provincial examinations a person who scores 100% may still have a lot of grammar mistakes within their writing.

I found that this article is relevant in a communications context as it poses some imminent issues for the up and coming generation in today's job market. Employer's want individuals who are able to "write long", as Bob mentioned in his lecture on Wednesday night. By "writing long", we are referring to the ability to write multiple paragraph pieces of communication. Within these communication passages, the grammar would definitely need to be sufficient, or else the reader would draw negative conclusions about the writer.

An interesting read, especially in the context of professional communications.
