Penny less

I found this interesting article about the Canadian penny on the national post website which I found to be quite interesting. According to the article the Canadian penny will stop being produced later in 2012 and it cost the government 1.6 cents to produce a 1 cent penny, which is an interesting fact.
As the article explained many Canadians find the penny to be more of a annoying item than a useful coin and many people store them in jars or throw them away, the penny cost the Canadian government 11 million dollars a year . Why the government wants to get rid of the penny now because they are worth nothing and are powerless also most Canadian do not care about the loss of the penny.
The way the government is going to change the way we give money is by simply by rounding the price of items by a nickel, but according to the article if you use your credit card you will have to use it to the penny. This article was very interesting and informative and was a great read if you want to know more details about the penny check out the link.
