A common dilemma...

A common dilemma we face at least once (I'm quite sure more, though): what to wear for my job interview.

Looking into a company's history and other facts is very important before going for a job interview in that company. However, looking into the company's dress code is equally important! Two very simple ways to help yourself in deciding what to wear for the interview are:

  • Simply ask the person who calls about the interview about the type of outfit to be worn.
  • Visit the office beforehand to observe the attire other employees are wearing, for example, pretend you're looking for someone and walk around the building observing what people are wearing!

Where people do know what to wear for the corporate world, i.e., a good-quality three-piece suit, for example, we sometimes tend to get confused about the "casual" dress code. A simple yet effective "one-liner" I once heard was "Never wear something you would wear on weekends, even if the dress code is casual". A tailored paired of pants or a straight skirt with a crisp blouse, for example, is something that almost always works!

Most importantly, do take off any easily and bright visible body piercing hardware (other than earrings) before going for an interview.
