and like totally radical

If you were asked to describe the speech of a teenage girl would you use the word "like" multiple times in a sentence? Of course you would. The Valley Girl trend of speech began before many of us were born, but that hasn't stopped it from influencing the way most of the young girls talk today.

Have you heard of the term Vocal Fry? It is when a croaking or raspy sound is injected after a sentence. What?! I swear I don't hear people croaking these days in conversation...but after listening to the examples provided I realized that yes, we do indeed croak and add some rasp to our voices.

We are learning about communication which in some cases involves TALKING. It is interesting to learn about trends in speech. Most of us associate trends to be in fashion, hair, and lifestyle, but speech trends are something we all participate in (and can afford).
