Using Twitter for Networking

Looking to network in an effective way, maybe you should consider Twitter. I have always thought of Twitter as place to read the tweets of the celebrities you were following, or sending a shout out to your friends, but it can be used to find a job. This article shows you the steps to use Twitter for networking effectively.

1.) Make your bio count
2.) Upload a headshot

Show them who you are. Get a clear head shot.
3.) Cast a wide net
Follow many different people and companies. Follow job boards, companies you are interested in, and industry experts
4.) Follow potential employer
5.) Monitor job site streams
6.) Target key people
7.)  Tweet regularly
Tweeting lets possible employers know you are there. If you Tweet a few times a day you are more likely to build relationships on twitter.
8.)  Keep tweets professional
Not all tweets need to be about your job search, but they should be relevant to your interests, hobbies or be about your career field
9.) Be a thought leader
Show that you have knowledge by tweeting opinions and though provoking messages.

Maybe next time you are looking for a job, you won’t just look on craigslist or LinkedIn. Maybe you will search on Twitter.
