How to write a thank you note for a job interview

Try to send out your thank you note within 24 hours of your interview. A thank you note should include the following:
  • Use formal greetings: Dear Ms/Mr ____
  • 1rst paragraph: Thank the interviewer for interviewing you for ___ position in the ____ department.
  • 2nd paragraph: Express your interest for the job.
  • 3rd paragraph: Restate why you are the ideal candidate for the position and point out some of the qualifications that make you stand out.
  • 4th paragraph: Thank the interviewer again and state that you look forward to hearing from them soon.
  • Ending greeting: Sincerely, YOUR FULL NAME
Keep your note short and concise; it should not be longer than half a page.

  1. This is such a simple things that many applicants are forgetting to do. It really does make all the difference.

Something short and simple will play a major part in the hiring decision of the employer.

My friend recently graduated from culinary school and after attending many interviews, she began asking her self why she was not receiving any phone calls in return.

She decided to write a thank you letter to one of the best restaurants in all of Vancouver. The next day, she received a phone call from the main chef at Hawksworth; she got the job. After working there for about a month, the chef actually told her that the letter played a big role in his decision. It showed that she was committed and made her stand out even more.

A few words go a long way.
