Questions to ask an employer

There is nothing worse than answering "no" when an employers asks you "do you have any questions for us?" Not asking any questions can be seen as you not being interested in the position you're being interviewed for, so make sure to have a list of questions prepared. Be prepared with 4-6 insightful questions, that way if some of the questions are answered during the interview you'll still have a couple left to ask.

Types of questions you can ask:
  • What kind of projects will I be working on?
  • What are the greatest challenges facing a person in this position?
  • Can you describe the culture of the organization/department?
Try asking questions that show you've researched the company.
  • I noticed your performance over the last year was...., what do you think influenced such performance?
  • I noticed that you just started using social media to..., what kind of results have you received from using social media?
*Don't ask questions that can be found in the job description. Also, don't ask questions about salary or benefits until after you're offered the job.
